Kitchen Makeover Idea's

We all know how uninspiring a cramped, out-dated kitchen can be. Even the best chefs under us will, at times, rather get take aways that being squeezed into an unfriendly, tight kitchen.

A kitchen makeover can be done fairly inexpensively by changing minor details to your kitchen, allowing it a fresh, updated look. The most remarkable impact can be accomplished with basic cupboard refacing and new handles. Changes to the colour scheme is also a good idea and using light colours can give that sense of space.

A kitchen area facelift does not merely boost its appearance, and possibly the function, but adds value to your home. We all have heard estate agents confessing that they sell houses out of the kitchen and to the wife!

An effective kitchen remodeling ought to blend form with functionality whilst not breaking the bank. Kitchen makeover ideas can come easily if you're the one working in the kitchen, be sure to keep that note pad handy and write down all your ideas.

Allow me to share some key suggestions you may wish to consider in your kitchen makeover project:

  1. Is the layout of your kitchen cupboards and work area practical? Changes to this might be a somewhat costly affair, but a practical layout is essential. If need be, acquire the services of an architect, draughtsman or kitchen design expert.

  2. Ample lighting is important in each and every kitchen. If you can afford it, break in a larger window, allowing more natural light in, and possibly creating a nice view from inside your new designer kitchen.

  3. Another good idea is to include a retractable, hand held kitchen sink mixer, you know, like the ones you find in restaurant kitchens. These make washing up and rinsing off food so much easier.

  4. A new coat of paint can go a long way. Even old and dated cupboard doors and wall tiles can be painted over, just ensure that the right product, under coat and procedures are used.

  5. Get new handles. If you are on a tight budget, visit second hand building material stores and pawn shops. Or if you're handy and crafty enough, make your own for that individual touch!

  6. Create accent light. A dedicated light for your work area or mood light for a romantic atmosphere are great features. There are ample products, including cable lights, that are beautiful design pieces, can be plugged into a wall socket and does not need to be installed by electricians, hence keeping the cost down. Do try and hide the wires however.

Your makeover project needs careful planning and budgeting. Do not jump into this head first just to find out halfway that you cannot afford to finish your project. I hope these kitchen makeover suggestions have been helpful and remember, the need to exercise some careful attention when budgeting for this doesn't mean learning to live without beautiful things.
